After the successful exhibition, Basket Case: Traditional meets Contemporary, The EUNIC Zimbabwe Cluster (British Council, Alliance Française and Goethe Institute) and The National Gallery of Zimbabwe, Harare, announced the second edition of Basket Case, a visual art and design project which has brought together five prominent African and European artists: Ifeoma Anyaeji, Alexandra Bircken, Tapfuma Gutsa, Delaine Lebas and Michel Paysant, who have been commissioned to create new pieces in collaboration with basket weavers located in various parts of Zimbabwe.
Basket Case II has been developed over two phases with Matali Crasset and Sebastian Herkner leading the creative workshops with the weaving communities, allowing them to draw from their own expertise and the traditional craft to develop innovative designs.
